Your Monthly Menopause Round Up- September

Welcome to September's Menopause Unmasked Round Up!

As AndroFeme, a female testosterone cream, is now MHRA approved in the UK. Learn what it means for menopause care and how coaching can support you.

Menopause News

Female testosterone, AndroFeme, has recently been approved by the UK’s Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA); a big step forward, as testosterone is often an overlooked but important hormone for everyone, not just for men.

AndroFeme is prescribed to treat hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD), commonly known as low libido, and has been available in Australia since 2020.

Testosterone deficiency can also be linked to a wider range of symptoms, including low energy, depression, headaches, cognitive difficulties, reduced bone density (osteoporosis), and muscle loss (sarcopenia); all of which can significantly affect quality of life. However, it’s important to note that there is currently insufficient research data to fully support the use of testosterone for these broader indications.

Although AndroFeme has now been approved in the UK, it is not expected to be available on the NHS until late 2026. In the meantime, it can be prescribed privately by a menopause specialist as an off-label treatment. To be considered for testosterone, you will usually need to already be on a hormone replacement therapy plan, and other possible causes of your symptoms—such as relationship issues or underlying health conditions—should be explored first.

 My Why

As we shift into September- routines return, days get shorter, and there's a subtle invitation to slow down and reset. This month, I wanted to share something a little different.

Instead of tips or hormone talk (don’t worry, they’ll be back next month!), I’d love to tell you a bit more about me and why I do what I do.

Who I Am

I’m Katie, menopause coach, midwife, wellbeing advocate, and founder of Menopause Unmasked. I live in Bournemouth, Dorset, with my husband, two kids, and a very lively Cavapoo puppy.

Before launching my menopause coaching business, I worked across healthcare: as a midwife, dental nurse, and emergency healthcare assistant; supporting people in A&E and on ambulances. Throughout my career, I’ve been drawn to roles centred around listening, offering compassionate care, and creating a sense of physical and emotional safety. I am still working clinically as a labour ward midwife.

Why Menopause?

Through my professional work and personal experiences, I saw just how many people feel lost, confused, or dismissed during perimenopause. So many were asking questions that weren’t being answered.

I knew I could offer something different - honest, practical, evidence-based support with a whole lot of empathy.

I trained as a menopause coach and launched Menopause Unmasked to help people:

  • Understand what’s really happening with their hormones

  • Rebuild confidence and trust in their body

  • Make simple changes that reduce overwhelm and symptoms

  • Feel heard, held, and empowered again

 What I Believe

I believe menopause doesn’t need to be masked by shame, silence, or confusion.

I believe you deserve clear information, supportive conversations, and space to reconnect with your needs.

I believe small steps can lead to big shifts.

How We Can Work Together

If you’re feeling stuck, foggy, or unsure where to begin, I offer two main ways to support you:

One-off sessions – Perfect if you need a focused boost or quick clarity. This could be a Clarity Hour, where we dive into your specific concerns and create a tailored action plan, or a workshop for groups, where I share practical tools, knowledge, and strategies to help you understand and manage menopause with confidence

Programmes – For deeper, longer-term support, I offer 7-week and 16-week programmes.

  • The 7-week programme is designed to give you the essential tools, knowledge, and strategies to understand your symptoms, improve your wellbeing, and feel more in control.

  • The 16-week programme builds on this with extra time for deeper exploration, personalised coaching, and ongoing support so you can create lasting changes in your lifestyle, mindset, and health.

I’ll be speaking at The Arts Centre in New Milton on September 10th with a talk titled “Introduction to Menopause.” I’ll be sharing practical advice and empowering insights to help you navigate perimenopause with clarity and confidence.
